Game Plus Support Program

“Finding Your Way Into The Games Industry”

Applications Now Open

Do you want to find your way into the game development industry? Are you in your early career, in a games-adjacent field, or part of a diverse group? The Game Plus Support (GPS) Program is here to help you find your way into the game development industry. The GPS Program is similar to a scholarship, but rather than education it grants you access to our game dev coworking space, shared office and community!

The GPS Program is a Game Plus initiative supported in Adelaide by the Adelaide Economic Development Agency (AEDA). The GPS Program provides placement and support in our co-working spaces to people in early career, diverse groups and games-adjacent fields.

If your application is successful, as part of your placement you will gain:

  • access to your local Game Plus co-working space;
  • connections to the wider game development industry;
  • support from our Game Plus Community Managers; and
  • access to our national network of over 300 Game Plus members.

Our goal with this program is to support people with ideas, skills and talent to build into viable careers and businesses, but who otherwise may not have the means to do so. We want the industry to be more diverse and more easily accessible. With the help of our partner AEDA, we are excited to be able to provide Dedicated Desks and Flexible Memberships for a total value of up to $20,000 this second round.

We ask applicants to set milestones in this program, so that – like in our successful Incubator Program – participants can see real progress and make the most out of their time in the space. Being part of Game Plus is much more than a desk, it’s joining a community – and you will also benefit from the guidance of our Community Managers who will connect, promote and support you during your placement at Game Plus.

The GPS Program is accepting applications for these 3 streams, detailed below:

  • Early Career;
  • Diverse Groups; and
  • Games Adjacent.

We welcome and encourage applicants from all backgrounds, and we particularly welcome applications from groups who are currently underrepresented in the games industry.

You must be living within South Australia and be over 18 to be eligible for this program.

Even if you don’t have the means to visit the Game Plus Adelaide co-working space, if you live in South Australia please feel free to apply – our Flexible Memberships can still be of great benefit to you by remotely connecting you to our national online community and our Game Plus Community Managers.

Dedicated Desks allow you to keep your gear at Game Plus, while Flexible Memberships let you hotdesk from time to time. All memberships give you 24/7 access on your days in the space and access to our members' Discord server.

STREAMS

Early Career:

This stream is open to recent graduates and/or early career games practitioners in the game development and games-adjacent technology fields keen to engage with the local Adelaide CBD games community.

Diverse Groups:

This stream is open to applicants from diverse groups including but not limited to: women (cis and trans), people from the LGBTQIA+ community, Aboriginal people, Torres Strait Islander people, people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, rural residents, neurodiverse people, people living with a disability, individuals from low income households and people experiencing disadvantage. We want to provide more opportunities to help build the diversity of the games industry and help under-represented people join the industry when they might not otherwise have that chance.

Games Adjacent:

This stream is open to those who are in adjacent fields (e.g VFX, Screen, AR, VR, graphic design etc.), looking to make the jump over to the games industry. In particular, the focus on the melding of the creative industries and sharing of resources and knowledge across fields is of great interest to us. We’re looking to assist with networking and resources sharing with this opportunity.

Please be aware, equipment (such as a PC) is not provided as part of the GPS Program.
