The GPS program is a Game Plus initiative supported by the Adelaide Economic Development Agency (AEDA). The GPS program provides placement and support in our co-working spaces to people in early career, diverse groups and games-adjacent fields.

We want the industry to be more diverse and easily accessible. We want to support people with ideas, skills and talent to build viable careers and businesses, even if they may not otherwise have the means to do so. Successful applicants to the GPS program will receive:

• Access to your local Game Plus co-working space
• Connections to the wider game development industry
• Support from our Game Plus Community Managers
• Access to our national network of over 300 Game Plus members

The GPS program is open to South Australian residents aged 18 and over. We encourage applications from anyone who belongs to one of the following streams:

Early Career:

This stream is open to recent graduates and/or early career games practitioners in the game development and games-adjacent technology fields keen to engage with the local Adelaide games community.

Diverse Groups:

This stream is open to applicants from diverse groups including but not limited to: women (cis and trans), people from the LGBTQIA+ community, First Nations people, those from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, rural residents, neurodiverse people, people living with a disability, individuals from low income households and people experiencing disadvantage. We want to provide more opportunities to help build the diversity of the games industry and help under-represented people join the industry when they might not otherwise have that chance.

Games Adjacent:

This stream is open to those who are in adjacent fields (e.g VFX, Screen, AR, VR, graphic design etc.), looking to make the jump over to the games industry. In particular, the focus on the melding of the creative industries and sharing of resources and knowledge across fields is of great interest to us. We’re looking to assist with networking and resources sharing with this opportunity.

GPS offers successful applicants either a dedicated desk or flexible membership in our Adelaide Game Plus location. Dedicated desks are your own reserved workspace in Game Plus, and allow you to keep your gear on the premises. Flexible memberships allow you to hotdesk a few days a month. Both memberships allow 24/7 access on your days in the space, as well as access to our national, members-only Discord server.

No! While our Game Plus space is located in Adelaide, we encourage applications from across South Australia, as our Flexible Memberships can still be of great benefit to you by remotely connecting you to our national online community and our Game Plus Community Managers.

Jamie Appleby

Jamie is the Community Manager of our Game Plus space in Adelaide, and the coordinator for the GPS Program. He's also a freelance 3D artist working in the video game industry.

Sean Dee

Sean is the Lead Designer at Towerpoint, an Adelaide-based studio comprising former GPS applicants and currently working on ANVILHEART. He loves weird little games with heart, and helping build a more diverse and noisy game dev community in Australia.

Luke Plunkett

Luke is the Community Manager of Game Plus Canberra, and is also an experienced games writer, author and industry consultant.

Chad Habel

Chad is Head of Faculty for AIE's Game Business, with a strong background in academia and games-adjacent business, including running Game Truck Australia, as well as managing many research, serious games and educational technology projects.
