The Game Plus Support (GPS) Program

"YOUR START IN GAMES"

Applications Now Open For 2024-25

Games are for everyone, and everyone should be able to make games. That’s why Game Plus and the Adelaide Economic Development Agency (AEDA) have partnered to offer the GPS (Game Plus Support) program, which supports those who want to make a career in video game development but who otherwise may not have the means to do so.

Offering over $20,000 worth of Game Plus memberships to successful applicants, the GPS program has allowed individuals who might otherwise have been excluded from the industry to gain access to valuable resources and build professional networks. This has helped create a more diverse talent pool in the games industry and has given individuals the opportunity to pursue their passions while developing their skills and connections.

TESTIMONIALS

“The GPS program has been a huge help to me in a personal and professional sense. It has given me a welcoming, healthy environment to work, learn, and grow as a person, and connected me to so many amazing people who I am privileged to have found friends in."

"The networking opportunities that the program has given me have kick-started my career as a game developer in ways I never thought were possible going in; as a direct result of the GPS program, I am now part of Towerpoint Games, a studio started between two of us at Game Plus that has since received funding from Screen Australia. This project would never have existed without the GPS program, and I am endlessly thankful for the program's part in helping me to build a future in games.” - Emma Waters

“GPS has been a big support in helping me to develop and release my second title Lucie’s Potager through my company Stellar Advent. The GPS Program allowed me to have a space I could regularly come into to work on art for the game and give me a space to have in-person meetings with my business partner. GPS has also allowed me to network with other developers in the community and create new friendships, as well as being able to meet one of our new team members who is currently going through AIE’s Incubator Program.” - Katie Abela

"Joining the GPS program was a turning point for me. Despite having a game design-related degree, my previous job experience was in 3D furniture and environment design, making it challenging to break into the gaming industry. The GPS program provided the supportive community I needed. Through this program, I connected with professionals who shared my passion and gained invaluable insights into the industry."

"Participating in member-exclusive events like Coffee Club and Art Attack was particularly transformative. Coffee Club boosted my confidence in networking with other members, while Art Attack offered a platform to practice showcasing my work and myself. These experiences were instrumental in expanding my professional network and honing my skills."

"The encouragement and resources from the GPS program reignited my determination to pursue a career in the gaming industry. This eventually led me to apply for a position at Big Ant Studio, where I was successfully hired. The GPS program not only helped me transition into the gaming field but also made me feel more at home in the gaming community." - Paola Antunes
